"Man, I wish my hair tie hadn't broken."
Jim paused beside him.
"I'm not hiking out because you forgot to bring a spare."
His voice softened.
"But I can help."
Blair looked up questioningly.
In reply, Jim gathered his hair up, twisted it, wrapped it around, and tucked the end in.
Blair grinned, slightly shocked.
"Well, I wouldn't wear it in public, but it works.
Jim blushed.
"It was nothing."
Blair shook his head.
"Not to me."
He reached up tentatively to feel the bun at the base of his head.
"Thanks."
